Tube Settler
Find Tube Settler with high efficiency and consistent quality
Tube settler in wastewater treatment is an additional unit or equipment used to improve the sedimentation process in wastewater.
Basic Concept
The tube settler consists of a collection of pipes or plates in an inclined shape (usually 60 °) placed above the sedimentation basin. Incoming wastewater will pass through these pipes / plates, so that solid particles settle faster because the distance to be traveled is shorter.
Main Functions
-
Increase sedimentation efficiency - accelerates the process of separating suspended solids (SS) from water.
-
Reduce sedimentation basin area - with tube settler, the basin size can be smaller but still able to accommodate large discharge.
-
Improve effluent quality - the water out of this unit becomes clearer because more solids are deposited.
Working Principle
-
Wastewater enters the sedimentation unit.
-
When passing through the tube settler area, solid particles will stick / interact with the pipe wall / inclined plate.
-
Gravity helps the particles fall to the bottom, while the cleaner water exits to the next stage.
Pros
-
Compact design and space saving.
-
Relatively low operating costs.
-
Suitable for both domestic and industrial wastewater treatment plants.
Disadvantages
-
Requires regular cleaning to prevent clogging by sludge.
-
Decreased effectiveness if water discharge fluctuates greatly or SS load is too high.
