Energy Recovery Technology

Energy Recovery has spent decades perfecting energy recovery devices that capture and recycle wasted energy pressure. Using the PX Pressure Exchanger® and turbocharger, Energy Recovery optimizes energy consumption in reverse osmosis (RO) systems, both in desalination and wastewater treatment applications. It is proven to significantly reduce energy requirements by up to 60%, operating costs and emissions.

Product Range

  1. PX Pressure Exchanger®
    The PX Pressure Exchanger® range is the core of our energy recovery solutions, designed to improve the efficiency of desalination and water treatment processes, reduce costs, save energy, and lower waste and emissions. Available in low, high and ultra-high pressure variations, these PXs are manufactured from high-quality aluminum oxide ceramic that has three times the abrasion resistance of steel. Designed to operate for up to 25 years without regular maintenance, the PX delivers up to 98% efficiency.

  2. PX Q400
    As the flagship energy recovery device, the PX Q400 offers up to 98% energy recovery efficiency with noise levels below 77 decibels, maintaining a safe and comfortable working environment. The PX Q400 design minimizes volumetric mixing to below 3%, resulting in higher system efficiency in seawater desalination applications.

  3. Turbocharger
    The AT Turbocharger and LPT Turbocharger are energy-efficient solutions for high and low pressure applications. These turbochargers have a compact footprint and are simple to install and maintain, allowing users to customize to system needs without the need for additional electrical connections. This solution is ideal for increasing pressure in RO systems and optimizing operations efficiently.

  4. AquaBold™, VPXP, HP and UHP Pumps
    Energy Recovery's range of high pressure pumps includes AquaBold™, VPXP, HP and UHP which are specifically designed to meet the needs of seawater and wastewater treatment. The AquaBold™ Pump, for example, is a multi-stage centrifugal pump capable of delivering efficiencies of up to 85%, while the UHP Pump is ideal for ultra-high pressure applications and can operate at pressures of up to 120 bar (1,740 psi).
