Honeycomb Bio Media
Discover Honeycomb Bio Media with high efficiency and consistent quality
Honeycomb Bio Media in wastewater treatment is one type of carrier media (bio media) used in the Attached Growth System or Fixed Bed Biofilm Reactor process. This media is usually in the form of a honeycomb structure that has many small cavities.
Main Function
-
A place for microorganisms to grow
The porous structure and large surface area provide space for the attachment of biofilms (layers of microorganisms). These microorganisms are responsible for the degradation of organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, and other pollutants. -
Improves treatment efficiency
With a high contact surface area, oxygen transfer and contact between wastewater and biofilm is optimized, thus improving BOD, COD, and nutrient removal. -
Compact & space-saving
Due to its lightweight, porous shape and high specific surface area, Honeycomb Bio Media enables smaller but still efficient installation designs.
Pros of Honeycomb Bio Media
-
Durable: Usually made of plastic material (PP/PE) that is resistant to corrosion and chemicals.
-
Self-cleaning: Certain structures allow the old biofilm to die off and be replaced by new biofilm.
-
Easy to install: Can be installed in aeration basins, biofilter basins, or Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) systems.
Applications
-
Industrial WWTP (food, beverage, textile factories, etc.)
-
Domestic WWTP (residential, hotel, hospital)
-
Small-medium scale WWTP to increase efficiency without the need for large land area.
