Sand Filter

Media Filtration: Sand Filter

sand filter

Pressure sand filters (PSF) find extensive applications in various industrial settings, including RO (Reverse Osmosis) and DM (Demineralization) plants, often referred to as rapid sand bed filters due to their efficient performance. These PSF units comprise a pressure vessel, typically positioned in a vertical or horizontal orientation, occasionally adapting to the plant's layout. Constructed primarily from welded mild steel, these filter vessels are often lined with rubber or epoxy to enhance durability. To ensure effective backwashing, a minimum of 50% freeboard is maintained over the depth of the filtering bed. The sand systems receive water from the feed source, facilitating the removal of suspended solids (TSS) and solid particles present in the raw water, contributing to enhanced water quality.
